Out of the Box: 5 Unconventional Wedding Ideas

There are over 130 million married people in the United States. Are you looking to join their number in the near future?

Do you want your wedding to be unique, rather than the same-old, same-old? We can help. Read on to learn all about the best Unconventional wedding ideas.

1. Look for Unconventional Wedding Venues

Where you hold your wedding is a major decision. It’s also very costly. So, choosing unconventional wedding venues won’t just make things more interesting — it can also save you money.

Think about having your wedding in the great outdoors, or at a local museum. The aquarium is great for an under-the-sea-themed wedding. If nothing catches your eye in your area, why not plan a destination wedding?

2. Add Some Flair

Adding elements that your guests can interact with can also make your wedding a lot more fun. Wedding sparklers are one great option, as long as you’re careful and fire-safe. Plus, your guests can pose with the sparklers for truly unique photos.

Have games available for your guests to play. Arcade games, board games, and cards could all be something fun for people to try out in between dances. If your wedding is outside, you could have sports equipment for your guests to play with. And, provide disposable cameras so that you’ll be able to see your guests’ memories of your special day.

3. Choose Unusual Entertainment

You don’t have to stick with a string quartet and a DJ as your only source of wedding entertainment. Why not think about having a drag queen show at your wedding?

This goes to all aspects of your reception. You could have a food truck rather than a sit-down dinner party.

4. Dress How You Like

There’s a specific idea of how people should dress for their weddings. But, you don’t have to stick with the traditions. Let your bridesmaids and groomsmen pick out their own outfits, or have a costume-themed ceremony.

You don’t have to choose from the classic white wedding dresses, either. Wear a suit, if that’s what you prefer. Pick colors that you like for your outfit and your attendant’s clothing.

5. Have Whoever You Want

There’s no reason you need to have gender-divided wedding attendants, particularly if you’re having a same-sex wedding. Gender-blind wedding parties are becoming more and more popular. You also don’t have to have a wedding party at all, if you’d rather avoid any hurt feelings or drama.

And, while flower girls and ring bearers are traditionally children, they don’t have to be. Children tend to be hard to wrangle, anyway. Have one of your friends be your flower girl, or have your dog do it. You could even have them wear costumes. Wouldn’t it be funny to have a ring bearer in a bear suit?
